Computational research

DVC · Project Apu

A research pipeline connecting sources, a tabular database and geographic layers for Google Earth/GIS inspection.

Geographic data and hypotheses · Google Earth / Google Sheets / Apps Script / KML / GeoJSON

The product problem

Preserve observation provenance and distinguish source objects from candidates, computed relationships and hypotheses.

Stage

Materials and software pipeline; a template does not establish a deployed live endpoint.

Concept illustration: DVC · Project Apu
A concept illustration, not a screenshot of a running product.

Territorial data as separate layers

An illustrative intended journey, not a demonstration of the current live release.

  1. Choose an area and dataset.
  2. Align sources and coordinate representations.
  3. Visualize layers without replacing underlying measurements.
  4. Check the quality and provenance of input data.

System components

  • Static KMZ/KML/GeoJSON exports for independent viewing.
  • Tabular records: source sites, candidates, audits and evidence sources.
  • Apps Script and Network Link: a separately configured layer-update path.
  • Generation, enrichment and geospatial-analysis tools.

Architecture & ownership

Static exports are independent of live publication. Google Sheets → Apps Script → geographic layers connects records to viewing; editing a sheet does not automatically update an old export.

Which source and spatial-model limitations should a map user see?

What to validate before use

Geometric similarity does not prove historical relationships. Observations, automated analysis and alternative hypotheses remain distinct.
